DAY 3 · CANON

The Second Pass

Adam reviews the disputed renewal evidence again, submits a focused request to billing for the missing authorisation and account records, and sends the customer a careful update without promising a refund or a definite outcome. His work reputation becomes more thorough and evidence-led, while his energy falls to 43. The disputed-renewal case remains active.

Day 3

The ticket was still there when Adam logged in: pending, unchanged, refusing to become somebody else’s problem.

He opened the account history again and resisted the urge to read it as a story. He treated it as a list of things that could be proved. The renewal date was present. The charge was present. The customer’s statement that they had not authorised it was present. What was missing was the piece that might connect the charge to a clear confirmation—an audit record, a usable log, something more than the incomplete history in front of him.

Adam made a fresh note in the case. Not a long explanation this time. He separated the request into specific points for billing: confirmation of the renewal event, the available authorisation record, and whether the account history had been affected by a system or migration issue. He added the dates and reference details he could verify, then read the message twice before sending it through the normal internal channel.

His cursor hovered over the customer reply box. He could have promised that billing was looking into it. He could have repeated that the case was under review. Instead, he wrote a short update explaining that he had requested a further check of the account evidence and would not make a decision until the relevant record had been confirmed.

He sent that too.

For a moment, the ticket looked no more resolved than before. The difference was that the uncertainty had edges now. Someone in billing had a focused question to answer, and Adam had left a clear trail showing why he had asked it.

He leaned back, rubbing one eye. The work had taken more out of him than he wanted to admit. Still, the familiar pressure in his chest had eased slightly. He had not fixed the case. He had made it harder for the case to be misunderstood.

The focused request gives billing a clearer question to answer and may later draw attention during a quality review. The customer’s confidence now depends on whether the specific evidence is found and communicated promptly.
